Creating a Combined Chart and Report DataPage

The Combined Chart and Report DataPage wizard functions by combining the individual wizards for charts and reports into one streamlined process.

DataPage Data Source

This screen allows you to select the Table or View that will function as the source for both your Report and Chart.  You can also name your Combined Chart and Report DataPage as well as select a Style and Localization.

Choose your Data Source and Customize your Style and Localization

If you need advanced features or parameters you can enable them on this screen.

Search Type

On this screen you can choose whether or not you would like to provide a search screen on this DataPage.

Create a Search Interface or Pre-Defined Filter

Allow users to select data using a search form – this option creates a search form where users can query the database by entering in their own search criteria and pressing search.

Filter data based on your pre-defined criteria – this option will allow you to make a hidden filter.  You can design your report to only display certain records (such as only records that have been checked as Active).  You can also create a dynamic hidden filter using parameters.

Search Page

On the next screen you will choose the fields for your search field.  Finally on the Configure Search Fields page you can format each individual field by selecting a form element, selecting one of the Search and Filter Comparison-Types, and configuring the field options as needed.

Pre-defined Filter

A filter is set up much in the same way.  Select the fields to be included.  Then select the comparison type and the default value.  You can also select no filtering fields if you wish to display all records in the table.

Select Results Page Fields

Just as in the previous select screen you can now select the fields that will be visible in the results page by moving these fields to the right hand panel.

Configure Results Page Fields

Each field can now be configured.  Enter a column header label in the Label field, and depending on the type of data stored in the field you can render the value as Text, HTML, or an Email / URL links.  Text values can be displayed in a variety of formats.

Configure the Results Page Fields

On this screen you can also use the insert button to add formatting elements like header and footer, and HTML blocks.  Calculated fields can now also be added and used later in the Chart component.

Search Results Options

The Search Results Options screen allows you to configure the default sorting of results records.  Select a field from the search order dropdowns and choose either ascending or descending using the A-Z button at the right.

Interactive options on this page allow you to enable interactive sorting (users can click on column headers to reorganize search results) and a delete records link to remove unwanted records from the data source Table (warning: this action cannot be undone).

If you have advanced features enabled, the advanced tab on this page also allows you to add a Download link to make the search results downloadable as a .csv or .xml file.

Select Chart Type

At this point your Report is complete.  The next step is to create a Chart component that will graph the data from your Report results.  Select the appropriate chart type on this screen.

Select Chart Type

Configure Chart Options

On this screen you will configure all of your chart parameters.  This screen is exactly the same as creating a regular Chart DataPage, however, in combined Report and Chart DataPages you can also use the data generated in Calculated Fields as the value field of your Series.

Configure Chart Options

Chart Results Options

On this screen you can choose how the results records will be sorted in your chart.  You can also choose to chart all records in the results set, or chart only the data shown on the page when "Page data" is selected.

Details Page

Finally you can also add a drill down Details page to the individual results that appear in your Report.  This Details page is configured just as you would in a non-combined Report.
