Managing Data

Caspio Bridge makes it easy to view and edit data through DataPages — a preferred method for managing data

However, your data can also be edited directly in Caspio Bridge by opening your tables and views directly in Datasheet view. This article outlines some of the methods available to manage your data directly through the Caspio Bridge Datasheet interface.

Managing Records

Sort records Sort Records Button

To sort a table or view based on the values of a specific field, click on a cell in that column and click the Ascending or Descending Sort button to sort data.

New record New Record Button

To add a record, click the New Record button.  You can also move your cursor to the bottom of the window and enter field values in the final row.  Clicking on any other record saves the new record.

Edit data

To edit an existing record, click on the desired cell, make your modification, and click on a different record to save the changes.

Delete record  Delete Record Button

To delete a record, click any cell in that row and click the Delete button. You can also delete multiple records using the checkboxes in front of the specific rows you want to delete and clicking the Delete button. You can also delete specific records by first creating a filter (explained below in this article) and using the checkboxes to delete the filtered records.

Resetting the AutoNumber  Reset AutoNumber Button

To change the starting value or to reset all values in an AutoNumber field, click on the Edit menu.  Select Reset AutoNumber.  The Reset AutoNumber screen lets you choose which AutoNumber field you’d like to reset if you have more than one.  You can also choose if you want to reset the AutoNumber of the current records or begin numbering new records differently.  Reset AutoNumber is only enabled inside the Tables section.

To find a specific value and replace it with a different value, click on the Find and Replace Data button. Type in the value you would like to replace in the Find field. Then, enter the new replacement value in the Replace with field. You can limit the number of rows and columns and specify different directions and match types.

Filtering Data

Filter by a selection  Filter by Selection Button

To filter records by a selection first find the desired value in a field.  Select the entire value and click the Filter by Selection button.  For example, to quickly display all of the customers from California, locate and select the value 'California' in the State field.  Then press the Filter by Selection button.  This temporarily hides all of the records that don't have California in their State field.

Filter by duplicates  Filter by Duplicates Button

To filter and group duplicate records, select a field and click on the Filter by Duplicates button.  All records with duplicate values in the selected field will be grouped together.  Records with unique values in the selected field will be hidden.

Remove filtering Remove Filtering Button

You can remove all of the filtering at any time by clicking on the Remove Filtering button which looks like a plain green funnel.

Summary

Although it is not the most common method for managing your data, Caspio Bridge provides several internal methods for adding, editing, deleting and sorting records.  Almost all of these features can be recreated in DataPages to provide the same functionality to your end-users.
