Segments
Feb 16, 2023 • 2 minutes to readSegments in Caspio Flex are distinct sections of an application that correspond to specific user roles. While all segments share the same underlying data, each segment is customized to meet the unique needs of its assigned role, including specific styles, localization, and functionalities. Segments provide precise control over user access and deployment environments, ensuring that each role interacts with the application in a manner best suited to their specific requirements.
An application can have two types of segments. Every user role that you configure has its own protected segment that only users within that role can access after logging in to the application. When you create a role, Flex automatically adds a dedicated segment that is the only segment for that role. Additionally, every application has a special Public access segment that does not require user authentication at all, which means that everyone, whether logged in or not, can access the AppPages in this segment.
You can control the following behavior on all AppPages within every segment:
The visibility of standard sections (the header, footer, and side panels) that you can edit in the Layout section of the right panel.
The theme that determines the content and style of the standard DataPage sections.
The language and method of displaying times, dates, and other data that might be specific to a region.
To ensure that every page and every object on any page shows the same, consistent style and comparable experience, configure the appearance and localization according to your needs.
