Dropbox Sign Integration
3 minutes to readThe Dropbox Sign Extension connects your Caspio application to Dropbox Sign, allowing you to automatically send signature requests and track signing activity directly from your Caspio data.
Once configured, the extension can automatically send signature requests whenever a record is created or updated in a selected Caspio table. Signing status and document information can then be written back to your application, providing real-time visibility into the signature process without manual intervention.
This article explains how to install the extension, connect your Dropbox Sign account, and create your first agent.
Before You Begin
Before getting started, make sure you have:
- A Caspio account with the Integrations Standard Package
- A Dropbox Sign account with API access enabled
- At least one Dropbox Sign template containing the fields you want to populate with data from Caspio
Install the Dropbox Sign Extension
- Open the Caspio Marketplace and locate the Dropbox Sign Extension. You can also install it from the Integrations page in your Caspio account.
- Install the extension.
- Enter your Dropbox Sign credentials then click Sign in.
- Review the requested permissions and click Allow to authorize Caspio to access your Dropbox Sign account.
Create an Agent
After installing the extension, create an agent to define when signature requests are sent and how data is exchanged between Caspio and Dropbox Sign.
- From the list of installed extensions, click Open the Dropbox Sign Extension.
- On the Agents page, click Create Agent.
- In the Details step
- Enter the name of your agent.
- Select a Profile from the dropdown. This is the Dropbox Sign account connection you authorized
- Click Next.
- In the Trigger step
- Select the data source for send signature request.
- Choose the type of event that will trigger the extension action.
- Insert – Send a signature request when a new record is created.
- Update – Send a signature request when an existing record is updated.
- Click Next.
- In the Outgoing data items step
- Select a Dropbox Sign template from the Template dropdown. This is the Dropbox Sign template the extension will use to generate the document.
- Map each template field to either:
- A field from your Caspio data source, or
- A fixed value
- Complete all required mapping.
- Click Next.
- In the Incoming data items step
- Map Dropbox Sign response data back to fields in your Caspio table to track the signing process.
- Available data includes:
- Status: Current signing status: sent, viewed, signed, completed, or declined
- Sent date: Timestamp when the signature request was sent
- Completed date: Timestamp when all signatures were collected
- Error message: Details if the signature request encountered an error
- Last modified: Timestamp of the most recent status change
- Modified by: The recipient who last took action on the request
- Status history: Full log of all status transitions for this request
- Signed document: Reference to the completed, signed document
- Per-signer dates: Individual signed timestamps per recipient (e.g., CLIENT signed date, CONSULTANT signed date)
- After completing the mapping, click Create.
After Setup
Once the agent is created, it becomes active immediately. Any time a record in your selected table is inserted or updated (depending on your trigger choice), Caspio sends a signature request to the configured recipients using the mapped template data.
You can create additional agents from the Dropbox Sign Agents page to support different workflows, data sources, or templates. Each agent operates independently.
Resource Usage
This extension uses two types of resources:
- Credits: Each signature request uses 1 Credit. See Caspio Credits.
- Integrations calls: Each request uses at least 10 integrations calls: for sending, receiving, and logging.
